Bond 24 is SPECTRE

“A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.”

So, there we have it Bond fans. Today’s press event revealed the title of Bond 24 is SPECTRE. Along with the cast of usual suspects including Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomi Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q and Daniel Craig as James Bond, we have newcomers Andrew Scott as Mi6 man Denbigh, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Monica Belluci as Lucia Sciarra,  Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann aaaaaand Christoph Waltz as…well, they forgot to mention that, didn’t they? Anybody else notice how every other actor on the stage was introduced alongside their character name apart from Mr. Waltz?

My initial reaction was one of absolute, stupendous joy! As the letters unfolded on the screen, I literally screamed at my computer with my hands on the air. I’ve dreamed of SPECTRE and Blofeld coming back to Bond ever since I was a kid. We were always told it could never happen, yet here we are, the return of SPECTRE and the return of Blofeld. I couldn’t be more overjoyed!

Alongside the cast reveal, we also got confirmation that Bond would be driving a new Aston Martin, which this time comes in the shape of a DB10. A beautiful looking beast it is too!

Our next podcast will be a full length episode discussing everything about what we saw at today’s press event. We’d love to hear from as many of you as possible, so please click the button over on the right hand side of this page and leave us a voicemail with your thoughts about SPECTRE. We’ll most likely play quite a few of them on the next show, so get involved.

    Sooooo excited… It’s just too much…

    • Me too, I have no idea how I’m going to get to sleep tonight!

Sorry about messing up the comments here. Disqus kept giving error messages but posted them anyway…

  • Jack Lugo

I think all of us had that same reaction when the letters were revealed. My mouth was wide open in shock and amazement.

    • Mine too, I recorded my initial reactions on my phone during the reveal. I was literally standing up and screaming at my computer. I sounded like a mad man when I listened back!

      • Simon Woolley

Wanna hear that tape! It’s got to go in the podcast!

  • Chris Wright

Did they mention Waltz as Oberhauser or not?

  • David Diabolik

Sounds like the Bond adventure I’m waiting for my whole life! Really awesome. And to keep anyone guessing: the bullethole on the teaser poster, can that be related to Tracy? SPECTRE being a sequel to OHMSS?

    • Awesome news eh? I can’t see them going all the way back to Majesty’s especially after the reboot, but maybe they’ll reference it indirectly in some way?

      • David Diabolik

Maybe. Until we’re going to see it in the cinema it’s all speculation. The signs are good though

  • Antoinette Miceli

Hey guys, a little late here. Can you see the message! OMG!!! Soo excited! I love the bullethole teaser poster!! Awesome! Cheers…

  • Oliver Shane Madden

According to a Danish newspaper Jesper Christensen will return as Mr Withe in SPECTRE. This is a little odd, since Christensen really did badmouth the Bond movies after his work on QOS. The paper does have a quote from Christensen where he says he is looking forward to working with Mendes and Craig. Now, if this is true it could mean that either Quantum is a part of SPECTRE (or that SPECTRE is Quantum’s new name) or that they are rival organisations.

    Here’s thelink (trough google translate):

    • Thanks for this Oliver, this is verrrrrry interesting!

      • Simon Woolley

Yeah awesome spot on the Danish newswires. Gotta be a massive reveal about the true nature of Quantum. “Quality Unidentified Apocalyptic Nuclear Terrorists Urge Misdirection”?

  • Steven G

I hope that Lucia Sciara (‘scary’) will be the a new Fiona Volpe.

  • Simon Woolley

Thinks – we’ve got to get around the opening to FYEO somehow – Tracy’s grave with dates, Blofeld down the chimney. Or are we just expected to expunge all that from our memory and go with the reboot?

    • Jack Lugo

The Daniel Craig era is a reboot so everything that came before hasn’t happened to the Bond character yet.

    • I think Mr. Lugo is right. I don’t think we’ll get any reference to previous Blofeldism, it’ll be a fresh start. Maybe we’ll get an in-joke or two, but I don’t think it’ll go any further than that.

  • Clarence Beeks

    I think I just came 😉

  • Baldwin Collins

I don’t think spectre is quantum’s new name. I believe spectre muscle’s in on
quantum’s power. destroying or recruiting them in ‘spectre’

    • I think you’re most probably right, especially if the Mr. White rumours are true. Or at the very least Waltz assumes control and ‘rebrands’ after Bond outed them in QoS.

  • Reuben Wakeman

So much to look forward to with this film – stella casting, the potential for a cracking story and something that was missing from Skyfall was some wonderful worldwide locations. Also, I do love a bit of snow in a Bond film so that’s a plus point for me.

I was like a little schoolboy when the SPECTRE words came up and love the graphics for the teaser poster/clip. Very clever how they’ve linked the Spectre octopus and bullet hole – very clever piece of design and referencing.

Bring on November 2015 – BOND IS BACK!

    • I don’t know how I’m gonna get through the next 11 months. I just can’t wait!

  • M Richard Fuchs

Glad to see that EON has brought the series back to a level of class that we haven’t seen for many, many years. For a longtime Bond fan it’s incredible to see the so many incredible, quality elements being assembled for SPECTRE; glad to see Bond as a world-beater again.
