Sources are reporting that the role of ‘Hinx’ has been given to none other than Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista.
Back in August, James Bond Radio were the first to break the news that the Bond 24 team were looking to fill the role of an “iconic henchman,” following in the tradition of characters like Oddjob and Jaws. Here’s a quick reminder of that casting call…
“Hinx (Male, 30 – 45)”
“Ideally over 6′ 2. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.”
“Height: 180cm – 195c”
Having a background as a professional mixed martial artist and wrestler signed to WWE (and a six-time world champion, no less), Dave certainly seems to fit the bill.
Film goers may recognise him as Drax The Destroyer in this year’s mega hit Guardians of the Galaxy, along with appearances in 2013’s Riddick and 2012’s The Man with the Iron Fists.
So Bond fans, what do you think? At 6’6, this guy certainly looks like he could give Daniel a run for his money. Let us know what you think in the comments below…

Bautista is certainly going to be a major physical threat to Bond. And given Craig’s interpretation of 007, Bond is likely to take his lumps over the course of the film.
I’m already looking forward to the fight scenes. I’m sure the choreography will be great. I just hope they do something more with the character other than just make him a strong man.
He sure is one imposing figure. Can’t wait to see him on screen opposite Craig.
Like the casting choice, but a part of me still wants them to change the name. Hinx is still too close to Jinx.
Let’s hope Hinx is only a temporary name.
Actually, I wouldn’t mind if they used his real last name. Bautista would be a badass sounding henchman name. 🙂
I’m a little apprehensive. I liked Bautista in Guardians… Will he work as a Bond villain/henchman? I don’t know. It all depends on the writing. I don’t think a henchman that is to over the top would work. However, I can see him as a silent, imposing, more threatening and more memorable version of the Patrice character from Skyfall.
I don’t whant this:
