For Your Eyes Only Listener Takeover | Podcast #097

It’s time to let the people speak once again!

After the success of our listener 90 second review episode during the 30 days of SPECTRE, we thought we’d start a new tradition off at JBR with a listener takeover for every one of our film reviews.

In addition to the listener reviews we also discuss the passing of Bond legends Sir Ken Adam and Sir George Martin. We look at SPECTRE’s recent wins at the Empire Film awards and we run a special one-off edition of Bond Celebrity Deathmatch.

Don’t miss this week’s episode of James Bond Radio!

  1. James Bond speaks each and every language ever known to man.
From Roger Ebert’s Little Movie Glossary (2002):

    1. Nice. Are you using sept from the Latin “septem”? I saw septem was originally the seventh month of the Roman year but somehow it became our September. I learned something new today.

      1. This rule is about 15 years old and even though I came up with it, Roger Ebert gave it the title.
It is true you learn something new every day!

  2. Great review of the movie in the previous podcasts and to hear what fellow JBRers think this time, including Dalton again.

Just wanted to chip in with a thought on who might succeed Daniel if he’s not playing the Roger game and indeed we have a new Bond for the next movie. I really hate jumping on any bandwagon but I have to say that I’d be perfectly happy if Tom Hiddleston got the gig. I understand the reservations that Chris has expressed about him not quite looking the part but I think there’s not much difference in Hiddleston’s physicality (his height and frame) compared with Pierce’s in 1986 when he was nearly cast, and who looked slighter then than in ’94 when he ultimately was cast. And the producers would surely work on any actor physically the way they did with Roger (who looked very different in The Persuaders in 1971 to when he hit the screens as Bond in ’73) and of course with Daniel after the press conference in which his casting was announced. And The Night Manager, in which Hiddleston currently stars (final episode tomorrow) iS as good as the hype, and Hiddleston’s one of the main reasons for that.

    1. Check out this interview with the Crimson Peak cast & director. Looks like Tom’s already bulking up. The material & buttons on his shirt are straining to contain him. 25:09 for example.

  3. The passing of sir ken adam is a great loss to bond fans everywhere.
But i went back and viewed ”Goldfinger” which in my opinion was his Signature work. Sir ken adam R.I.P.

  4. Regarding languages … Is Google claiming, that the “Cunning Linguist” 007 have forgotten all the DANISH he was taught by Prof. Inga Bergstrom in TND??
