JBR Returns! – Bond 25, Blofeld, Becoming Bond, Karin Dor, JBR Meetups & More! (Podcast #127)

JBR returns after the autumn break to catch up on all things Bond. We cover all the latest news and rumours.

Is Blofeld out of the picture after Christoph Waltz revealed he wouldn’t be back for Bond 25? Will we see another actor take over like we’ve seen in the past? Is it all just smoke and mirrors?

We also talk about the recent Lazenby documentary ‘Becoming Bond,’ and we cover our recent Bondian adventures from Casino Royale Live at The Royal Albert Hall in London to the unveiling of The Roger Moore stage at Pinewood.

  1. James Bond Jr, a suave agent from the spy organization Mi6, partakes in a torture training exercise, but causes it to be terminated after complaining about fellow agent Trevalyan fake-torture tactics. The following day, while trying to get members of the organization to smell his dry cleaning due to its strangely curry-like odor, he is called into the office of M, his mother and boss, where he is chastised for misusing his Mi6-run expense account. He seeks assistance from Bill Tanner, a member of the organization and his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, to clear his account, but he refuses. Attempts to get access to accounts with a made up “Mole Hunt” also meet with failure. Archer tries getting secretary Loelia Ponsonby to leave the mainframe open that night, allowing Bond to easily slip in and clear his account, but she too denies his request.

Without any outside options, Bond is forced to manually break into ISIS’s mainframe ( a terrorist group). Though he initially thinks that this will be an extremely difficult task, he discovers that actual security is appallingly terrible and he easily figures out the password to hack his account after the first try. While trying to transfer all of his excess expenses from his account to Trevalyan, the agent enters the room and holds a gun up to Bonds head. He reveals that he is actually a Russian spy named Janus and fears the agency has started to realize that he is a mole, so he plans on stealing $50,000 from Bonds account and fleeing from the country. Just then, however, Bonds ex-girlfriend—Agent Eve Moneypenny—arrives and pulls a gun on Janus. She and Bond begin to argue and the mole is able to escape.

They pursue him outside, where Tanner and M have already arrived. Janus grabs M and threatens to kill her if they do not let him leave; Bond tries to turn the tables on him by grabbing Eve and threatening to do the same, but Janus does not care about her well being. When Eve proclaims that Bond is getting an erection (caused by picturing M being dead), Janus lets go of M in disgust, allowing Bond room to shoot him several times in his chest and once in the head, killing him.

Despite his previous actions of breaking into ISIS and hacking the mainframe, Bond is excused from his expenses after Tanner comes to the assumption that Janus had been stealing from Bonds account the whole time. M notes that she would have known if there was a mole at ISIS terrorist group , her earlier phone call shown to have been with General Gogol, head of the KGB. She changes the subject when questioned, and rather complains that someone left donuts on the look attracting ants. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/36ede37ab5c997afa6787f7ea384c0c0aa89ede714da5da3b38430714750e64e.jpg

  2. Hello guys I put my fan fiction summary down bellow, because the utube comment section wasn’t working, so there it is for you to read and please read and enjoy it. Im basically doing another universe where archer was actually James Bond jr. that would be dope, Im watching agent X, and James Bonds adopted father who cared for blowfly and Bond in specter, in the photo recovered by sky fall lodge, its there, the actor who is there was also in this show and very bondian I love the story and everything it would probable be the relationship between bond and Franz Oberhauser.I just watched November man, and pierce brosnan was great but I love the book its wss based on more than the movie, and it was not even like the book, there are many books of this series, so maybe there is a sequel which I will watch, but the movie wasn’t that good, I only watched Brosnan for what he does best which is a spy. I love Brosnan and Olga plays the same character in QOS which is revenge on someone that killed his parents. So at least I got a good book out It, and brosnan action scenes that I put to goldeneye James Bond theme trap music which is cool, He reminded of Charles Brosnon, which was cool. I heard Tom talked about sopranos once in thre I’ve podcast so I was wondering if I can suggest a movie that has some sopranos tides and that is DiCaprio’s basketball diaries. Just for any sopranos fan out there like Tom, also I would love to see those stars in the show play at type of mob in a future bond movie that would be cool. Actually watching the mendenez murder law and order edition and the other movies they made of them of course they are bad people for what they did but there albi was watching licence to kill. Becoming bond was well done the life of the one and only bond, and it was so good man this guy lived to the fullest, now to know that the film was acknowledged for being the best, I personally think it’s under appreciated but it inspired many action films and films recently like inception, and one Cary grant movie I can’t remember and he had the same motives of Connery of being tired of the name but who u are, and the guy from goldbergs Matt mira played Albert and he’s not broths. I’m reading the book that inspired the November man movie and it has a lot of similarities with Pierce Brosnan bond who plays November man in the movie, in the book they mention ibm, a form of communication with Natalya in goldeneye, they mention a japan agent who exploded by suit case even mentioned the name James Bond, satellites, also goldeneye, I was watching homeland and I’m the show they had a suit case bombing which was cool, because it reminded me of cr book the same Bombs in suitcases and I want that scene to come in another bond movie. Bonding talked about James Bond radio interview with donal Glover that’s cool u guys are getting fake from other podcast. I was watching the movie that was adaptation of chandler book farewell my lovely I just finished and guess what Milton krest actor from license to killl is in the 1975 version of farewell my lovely, I would encourage anyone to watch this movie it also has a young Sylvester Stallone. That was prett cool. In the episode of glow Netflix series they talk about James Bond roger Moore movies, I’m like this was a good show to brilliant all the way. I’m binge watching Christopher lee filmography as I finished roger with only a few left, a movie called prelude to fame has a guy in it who looks like Sean Connery but isn’t but he could’ve been bond as well as Christopher in his earlier films. Waltz not coming back, come on, he would be back as blowfeld, man I want him too, his character is not developed. Was Lin will win hands dow. really Tracy waitlist Lin is very intelligent I don’t agree. I can’t wait for the trailers of bond, all good bond see you in two weeks. I can’t wait https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/2de7136cef950a6f33b9629381005c492bccfd60310f28fb3e7d168b496801c1.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1189d3fa088ef31d9592db378209d1fdd58821623ebb7aef58022b5fb8b68bf3.gif https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/67098c0884c0a2b822935381428e6088136d2d65d2ef627ae0d1fa48f9d0a1eb.png https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f0e209a749d43d9a45c650b251fc058eda3528b8e4cb8ff61b3f6f1ea82cf60a.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/0c554d08e714c1bbe207222052fd1d072d1fedf1835f9956b27183d5c8b94ee0.jpg

  3. Refering to German bond girls, don’t forget Irma Bunt – who was not exactly a bond girl but nearly at on point ! German actress Ilse Steppat memorably player Irma in OHMS, but passed away in December 1969 – a few days after the release of OHMS in fact.

    1. A very good shout David. Not strictly a Bond girl per se but definitely worth a mention. And what a great and memorable character she played too!
