This week we go behind the scenes of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service with author Charles Helfenstein. As the author behind seminal book ‘The Making of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,’ Charles has a unique insight into the movie. In today’s episode he busts some prominent myths, exposes some amazing truths and tells a ton of jaw dropping stories about the Bond movie that divides opinion more than any other. This is another 2.5 hour epic, so sit back and enjoy with a glass of your favourite tipple…Royal Hennessy of course!

That was AWESOME. So much love for OHMSS!
Thanks William. I think this film excites us more than any other.
Glad you enjoyed it William! 🙂
Fantastic podcast guys, the best yet. I love that film!
Regarding the trivia section towards the end of the podcast, I have to disagree with the ages you give for 3 of the Bond actors on the date of their first Bond premiers:
Roger born 14/10/27, LALD premier 27/06/73, aged 45 (not 46).
Tim born 21/03/46, TLD premier 27/06/87, aged 41 (not 42).
Pierce born 16/05/53, GE premiere 13/17/95, aged 42 (not 43).
Keep up the good work, looking forward to hearing from Charles again when you cover The Living Daylights.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for getting in touch. You are indeed right about the ages you mentioned. We had actually written on the FB release of that podcast that there were 5 intended mistakes for people to listen out for, although in reality I mislaid the sheet I had written down the dates for and we didn’t have time to re-record and re-edit before its release.
Well spotted though as you’re the first person to mention it.
Glad you’re enjoying the podcasts!
Thanks,
Chris & Tom
Loved this film for 40 years. Have Charles’s book but still learnt new things! Fantastic!
Going thru your back catalog as I’m on an OHMSS kick right now and LOVED this podcast. Amazingly great interview.
