  1. I laughed hard, when Tom said that he would have walked out of the cinema, had Bond killed Blofeld at the end. I felt the exact same. I was almost steaming during the scene. Killing Blofeld would have cancelled out ALL the re-boot work done in the 4 Danny-movies. It would be completely without purpose.

Hinx is going to come back and free Blofeld, and away we go … possibly with a new Bond-actor, although I agree that Danny should stay for AT LEAST one more.

Regarding Blofeld remembering meeting Madeleine before (and Madeleine not remembering) … Now, I’ve only seen SPECTRE once (so far), and might have missed something, but do you think it is possible, that the situation Blofeld refer to, is the same that Madeleine refers to, when she tells Bond about when she was a kid and the gun under the sink and all that?

    1. Hi Oluf,

Yep that’s pretty much how we see Bond 25 kicking off too.

That is an interesting take on things regarding Madeleine. Personally I always felt that the in the situation Madeleine is referring to, it is her way of telling Bond that she has already killed someone when she was young (with her dad’s hidden Beretta)… hence her hatred of guns.

In which case, she clearly didn’t kill Blofeld. Perhaps Blofeld was there in the shadows watching one of his minions inside with orders to kill Mr White and then watches Madeleine killing the man trying to kill her dad?

      Nice potential link though!

      1. Yeah – that was my thought too. Swann killing a henchman.

Not sure how it locks in with the whole “Mr. White, Pale King, Quantum, Spectre” story though. Hmmm … must give it more thought. Should probably watch the 4 movies in rapid succession. Oh what a shame! 😉

  2. Most of the movie reviewers especially in America are really not Bond Fans
and the producers we’re targeting the die-hard fans. and the response was awesome.

    1. I’m sure some people will come around to it. The bottom line is, if Bond fans are happy and if it makes a shed-load of money, no matter what the critics say, it’ll be a winner for EON and we really hope it is!

  3. By the end of SPECTRE I was fairly sure that Blofeld would most certainly be allowed to escape or at least to live, even when the death of an important character seems to bring a lot of weight to Bond movies (think Judi Dench’s M, Vesper, Tracy, etc)..I believe that Blofeld is the one Bond opponent who, considering what he’s meant to the series as well as how long it took to bring him back, will most likely never, ever be killed off.
The one thing that doesn’t cease to amaze me is how many critics seem to justify their dislike of the movie solely on the way Blofeld is revealed in the movie which personally I found terrific. I suppose they were expecting something the likes of the Keyzer Soze surprise in THE USUAL SUSPECTS which simply did not lent itself in a movie titled SPECTRE. Not if you want him to be played by a first rate actor such as Waltz whose sole presence made the whole thing obvious.

  4. I am so tired of hearing the naysayers say how much the Blofeld reveal scene is like the Khan reveal scene in Star Trek Into Darkness but worse. I couldn’t disagree more. The scene in Star Trek is garbage because of Cumberbatch’s delivery. Apparently it’s supposed to mean something to the character of Kirk. That’s not all what we get in Spectre. It’s delivered matter of factly just clear the facts with Bond. He isn’t Franz, he’s Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Bond even retorts ‘Catchy name’. It’s simply not the same thing.

I love, love, love the torture scene. Some people have criticized the scene because Blofeld is erasing Bond’s mind to torture both him and Madeleine (in a sense) even though they only met a day ago or something. I read that scene differently. When the film cuts to the torture chamber, Blofeld is sharing with Madeleine his fascination with the death of the Spectre agent back in Rome at the hands of Mr Hinx. He wasn’t quite dead but there was no longer a person inside his head. That’s what Blofeld is trying to do to Bond. He’s inspired by the bizarre death he witnessed in Rome. I think that’s really well thought up.

  5. First of all, I love this Blofeld and the links back to the older renditions of him. I don’t mind that they created the step-brother kind of connection. But what if…

…the real Oberhauser is dead and Blofeld is pretending to be Oberhauser? So SPECTRE wasn’t created by Oberhauser to get back at Bond the childhood cuckoo – rather, Oberhauser was (re-)created by SPECTRE to destroy Bond via his traumatic childhood, to remove him from the spy game? Yes, Blofeld needs surgery to look like Bond’s older stepbrother, but he has a lair in a crater, so a little nip and tuck should be easy.

Probably won’t happen but if we’re still Spectre-lating we might as well do it up right.

    Take care, boys.

  6. Speaking of Koskov being the only other Bond villain to be taken in, Christoph Waltz’s Blofeld kinda reminds me of Georgi Koskov.

    1. Honestly, I liked Koskov more. Waltz played Waltz not Blofeld. And why do we need Blofeld? He belongs to the 60s.They should not start recycling everything. What’s next? A new Goldfinger?

      1. That’s like saying, why does Sherlock Holmes need Professor Moriarty? Or why does the Doctor need the Master? Or why does Batman need the Joker? Blofeld is Bond’s arch-nemesis and an iconic villain. And I think Waltz played him brilliantly.
